“We realize you have a choice in airlines…”
We’ve all heard this from flight attendants. “We realize you have a choice in airlines and we appreciate you selecting fill-in-the-blank airline,” they say. When they make this announcement we are usually so focused on trying to beat our high score on Angry Birds that we pay little attention to what they are saying.
But the reality is, in most cases, you really do have a choice. Maybe the airline you selected has a direct flight, maybe you are trying to build your frequent flyer miles on one airline, or maybe you prefer to pay lower fares and dine on peanuts on your cross-country flight.
Well, online appointment scheduling software is no different. You have a choice. And, just like the airlines, there are some pretty distinct differences among your options. Now, none will be able to transport you from Los Angeles to New York, but we know of at least one that was designed to help growing businesses get bigger and large businesses to become more efficient.
Warning! You are about to be hit with a fancy marketing pitch.
Actually, you aren’t. It’s not our style. We know you’ll do the appropriate research and find the system that best meets your needs. It’s our job to help educate you and to help you recognize some key differences among the options. If we aren’t the right fit for your business, we’ll be the first to tell you.
So, how are we different?
The whole enchilada
When you purchase a scheduling software system, you’re only buying the software, right? Nope. You’re also selecting the company behind it and everything it does to support the software. This list includes their:
- Customer support team
- Vision and values
- Product roadmap
- Server hosting partner
- Software development and testing process
- Security procedures
- Knowledge of online scheduling software
And, you thought you were just choosing software! So, what does this have to do with Appointment-Plus? Well, a lot.
Better with age
Like a fine wine, you get better with age. We’ve all heard that cliché before, right? The improving of wine over time gets a lot of comparisons because the concept is true. But, can this simile apply to scheduling software? Yep. Hang onto your grapes and I’ll tell you how:
10,000 good reasons
In Malcolm Gladwell’s book Outliers, he popularized the notion that it takes 10,000 hours of practice to be an expert at something. He cited examples such as Michael Jordan and the Beatles, stating that neither was very good when they started. But both rose to the top of their respective fields by tirelessly honing their craft with years and years of practice.
We passed 10,000 hours years ago.
Knowledge truly is powerful
A funny thing happens when you’ve been around for a long time. You gain experience and knowledge. In today’s world of high-profile startups, like Facebook, and wunderkind entrepreneurs, it’s easy to start believing that anyone can build a billion-dollar software business. Mark Zuckerberg is a brilliant young man. But, Mark Zuckerberg is one in a million.
Look at it this way. Would you rather have a brand-new pilot or an experienced one as the captain of your flight from New York to Paris? Would you rather have a new surgeon or an experienced one performing your appendectomy?
When you have experience, you make better decisions, you know how to solve problems and don’t make as many mistakes.
Are you out to make a quick buck? Wouldn’t it be great to jump into a business, make a ton of money and then jump right out? It’s the dream! Get rich quick, then move on to something else that you really want to do.
If you are taking the time to carefully research online appointment scheduling software, then I’m guessing you aren’t in that camp. Study after study and article after article have covered the topic of whether or not money can bring you happiness and fulfillment. While we could all use a little more money, I think we already know the answer to that question.
Sadly, many software companies are started with one goal in mind - to make as much money as they can. They aren’t customer-centered and they aren’t in it for the long haul. More importantly, they don’t have a foundation of values at their core to guide them through good times and bad.
We embody and live our core values every single day. They are:
We celebrate our wins and mourn our losses as a team
We believe in work-life balance and put family first
We treat everyone as the valuable person they are
We go the extra mile for clients and fellow employees
We are proud of our work
We embrace new staff as part of the team
We like to laugh and, yes, we are a little goofy
Built to scale
So, why do we use all these tools?
It’s not because of the price. Indeed, we spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on internal software tools every year.
It’s because we want to be using the best software available to run our business. What does that mean to you? It means that as you grow and as your needs expand, we’ll be right there with you. We’ll have all the infrastructure in place to make sure we can scale right along with you.
All that glitters is not gold
All that glitters is not gold;
Often have you heard that told:
Many a man his life hath sold
But my outside to behold:
Gilded tombs do worms enfold.
Had you been as wise as bold,
Young in limbs, in judgement old
Your answer had not been inscroll'd
Fare you well, your suit is cold.
Or, if you prefer a more down-to-earth version you might hear Si from Duck Dynasty say something like, “Hey, that ostrich looks pretty, but it don’t fly.”
Whether from Si or Shakespeare’s play The Merchant of Venice, it means the same thing. All that glitters is not gold.
So, how does this apply to appointment scheduling software?
In today’s high-tech world, it’s easy to create software that looks really nice. It has that modern feel, it has nice bright colors, and all the boxes have rounded corners. It probably has a hip name, too.
But will it meet the needs of your business? Is there any depth to the features and functionality? Is it flexible? When you get past the fancy interface, what does it really do?
At Appointment-Plus, we’re not so concerned about having the shiniest car in the parking lot. We like to spend our time on the engine, making sure it’s tuned up and performing at its best. We’ve designed our vehicle to get you to where you want to go quickly, safely, and with all passengers intact.
Whether you are talking about cars or scheduling software, all that glitters is not gold.
We’ve all seen and heard the rhetoric...
“World’s best”, “Industry leader”, “Best in class,” etc.
Did you know that any company can make these claims on their web site? Yes, you can start building a web site at 6pm tonight with one of those free web site builders and by 10pm proclaim to the world that you are the world’s best provider of widgets, or weight loss products, or real estate, or even online appointment scheduling software. It may not be true, but no one can stop you.
The Internet is an amazing resource for all sorts of great information, but it’s also chock full of scams and misinformation.
Don’t believe anyone’s lofty claims. Do your in-depth research and make your own judgments.
So, in lieu of important-sounding rhetoric, we’ll settle for letting the numbers speak for themselves:
appointments are booked through
our software every month
businesses and institutions around
the world use our software
Over 150 million
Appointments scheduled since 2001
