eSELECT
eSelect will remain an approved gateway provider for Canadian clients. eSelect will remain an approved gateway provider for Canadian clients. However, because of PCI requirements, several changes will take place if you continue to use eSelect after September 18, 2010 (Changed from August 23, 2010). The primary changes will be:
- A credit card number input via the web will NOT result in a stored credit card related to the applicable customer profile.
- As a result, each time a payment transaction is needed for a customer, whether by the customer (customer view) or by your staff (POS), the credit card number will need to be input for payment.
- You will not have access to or see any credit card numbers previously stored in your account after August 23, 2010 (Changed from August 2, 2010). These numbers will be purged completely from the system.
The inability to store a payment mechanism for future transactions is the result of the fact that eSelect does not offer the technology necessary for this functionality in a PCI-exempt environment. MerchantWare is the only current provider that offers this technology. Therefore, if you need to capture credit card data for future payment capabilities, you will need to switch to a MerchantWare gateway account. NEXT STEPS FOR eSELECT USERS:
Answer these three questions:
- Do you need to store customer payment card information in Appointment-Plus to run future transactions (i.e. the customer will not be present or on phone to provide the card data each time)?
- Do you need to use the prompt but don't process functionality?
- Is it a problem for your customers and/or staff to input a credit card number each time you have a payment transaction (i.e. the customer is present or on phone to provide the card data each time)?
If the answer to the above questions are all "NO", then you do NOT need to take any action.
If the answer to any one of the above questions is "YES", you will need to determine if you are able to add a MerchantWare gateway account. MerchantWare is available only if you meet all four of these requirements:
- You must have a U.S.-based bank account.
- You must have a credit card merchant account with Merchant Warehouse. Click here to quickly get started with Merchant Warehouse.
- You must have a credit card gateway account with MerchantWare.
- You must also have the Appointment-Plus Point of Sale (POS) module on your account. For information on how the POS module works, click here (enable audio). Please contact our support staff to enable this feature on your account (480-483-1199, option 3).
If you do add a MerchantWare gateway, you will then need to update your gateway credentials in your Appointment-Plus account. Click here (enable audio) to learn how to update your gateway credentials.
